High School English literature

 

ENGLISH I - FOUNDATIONS OF ENGLISH


Grade Level: 9th
Instructor: TBA
Class Time: 1.5 hours
Course Duration: 32 Weeks
Tuition: $700/semester 


This foundational course introduces students to a variety of literary genres, including short stories, novels, poetry, drama, and nonfiction. Emphasis is placed on building strong reading comprehension, literary analysis, and academic writing skills. Students will explore universal themes and literary devices while learning how to craft coherent essays, respond to text-based questions, and engage in thoughtful discussions. This course serves as the essential starting point for high school English studies.


This course fulfills English I requirements as outlined by the State of California.

ENGLISH II - WORLD LITERATURE

 

English II – World Literature

Grade Level: 10th

Class Time: 1.5 hours
Course Duration: 32 Weeks


Tuition: $700/semester 

In this global exploration of literature, students encounter voices and stories from cultures around the world. Through fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama, students will engage with themes of identity, culture, justice, and transformation. Writing assignments will include literary analysis, comparative essays, and creative responses. This course encourages students to broaden their understanding of the world while refining their reading, writing, and communication skills.


This course fulfills English II requirements as outlined by the State of California.

HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH LITERATURE

ENGLISH III - AMERICAN LIT

Course Duration: 32 Weeks
Tuition: $700/semester 


English III explores the evolution of American literature from its colonial roots to contemporary voices. Students will examine major literary movements, authors, and historical contexts that shaped American thought and identity. Core texts may include speeches, essays, short stories, poetry, and novels. Students will develop analytical writing and rhetorical skills while engaging in class discussions that connect literature to American history and culture.


This course fulfills English III requirements as outlined by the State of California.





ENGLISH IV - BRITISH LITERATURE

Course Duration: 32 Weeks


Tuition: $700/semester 

This capstone English course surveys the rich tradition of British literature, spanning from medieval epics to modernist and contemporary works. Students will study texts from authors such as Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and George Orwell, examining themes of power, class, identity, and morality. Emphasis is placed on literary analysis, historical context, and academic writing in preparation for college-level work.
