High School Science Facilitator | Founder & CEO, Guiding Our Days
Heather Gerber brings over 20 years of science-based experience, clinical expertise, public speaking, and entrepreneurial innovation to her role as the High School Science Facilitator at Guiding Our Days. She currently teaches Biology and Anatomy & Physiology, blending academic rigor with real-world relevance to equip students with confidence, curiosity, and purpose.
Heather’s journey into healthcare began at just 16 years old when she enrolled in a Dental Assisting course through the Regional Occupational Program (ROP) while still in high school. Before graduating, she had already completed her training, earned her radiology license, and was working as a dental assistant—eventually earning statewide recognition from ROP and being honored in Who’s Who Among Students for her academic achievement and leadership.
Determined to advance in the field, Heather put herself through college, working full-time as a dental assistant during the day while attending night classes to complete the prerequisites for dental hygiene school. She was newly married at the time, balancing work, school, and building a home. For her, community college wasn’t a fallback—it was the only option, and she made it count.
In 2008, Heather graduated with two Associate of Applied Science degrees, completing the same accredited coursework and licensing requirements as those who attend dental hygiene programs at universities like USC or Loma Linda. Though just a few credits shy of earning her bachelor’s degree, Heather planned to return—until life took her in a bold, new direction.
While waiting for her dental hygiene license to arrive in the mail, Heather was struck with the spark of entrepreneurship. Within six months, she had launched her own airbrush tanning brand, opened a storefront, hired 15 employees, and established licensing agreements—allowing individuals across the country to operate under the brand she created, similar to a franchising model. Her products and training programs gained national and international attention, especially after being featured on The Real Housewives of Orange County and FOX 11 News for four consecutive years.
Then, everything changed. Heather’s husband was diagnosed with cancer, and they began a three-year journey of treatment and recovery. That season deepened her faith, redirected her focus, and inspired a renewed passion for mentorship, wellness, and education. What could have been a setback became a defining moment.
“The Lord doesn’t always call the equipped. He equips the called. I know I am living out one of my greatest life purposes. I’ve been given a gift to teach what I know—to bring it to life in a way that’s engaging, interactive, and effective. I’ve seen the impact of my teaching style and materials, and I give all glory to God for allowing me to do what I love.” — Heather Gerber
Heather also created original high school courses in Public Speaking and Entrepreneurship, developing a full curriculum across a broad range of subjects based on her real-world experiences. Though she no longer teaches those classes, they remain a foundational part of the high school program at Guiding Our Days. One of Heather’s favorite parts of teaching is that she never stops learning. Every lesson is a new opportunity to explore, question, and inspire students to go deeper.
Heather’s love language is acts of service, and it’s evident in everything she pours into her students, staff, and families. Her heart for excellence, mentorship, and community shapes the culture of Guiding Our Days in lasting ways.
Outside of the classroom, Heather enjoys roller skating, the beach, camping, hiking, and snowboarding—but what she values most is quality time and meaningful connection. She lives in San Juan Capistrano with her husband of 21 years and their two daughters, Brooklyn (14) and Avalon (10), who both attend Guiding Our Days and continually inspire her to teach boldly and love deeply.
